The IPMS/USA Make N' Take Program

IPMS/USA Extends Make and Take Grant to Chartered Chapters

While we discontinued the IPMS-sponsored Make and Take program last year, we recognize that some of our Chapters have elected to support MnT activity at the local level. On a trial basis (subject to cancellation) we will provide a $100 post-event grant to any chapter holding a MnT event to offset their costs. Director of Local Chapters Dave Lockhart will be creating an application form for this program.  Photos and writeups of the event activity will need to be submitted along with the application to obtain the grant.

Elimination of the IPMS/USA Make and Take Program

As any member who has attended the past few Business Meetings at the National Convention could tell you, the Make and Take program has been an ongoing item of discussion in terms of cost and benefits to the Society. While the intent of MnT has always been to recruit new/young members, no correlation has been established between participation in a MnT and subsequent enrollments. In spite of this, the program was continued because of the local goodwill it was perceived to generate.

UPDATED: Make N Take Temporarily Resumed

From Larry Randal in https://forum.ipmsusa3.org/index.php?/topic/15451-news-make-n-take-program-suspended/?p=83277

Thanks to the generosity of Dick Christ, he will order through his hobby shop (Hobby Depot in Tempe, AZ) and we are able to resume the program at least temporarily. I also note many great ideas being generated on the IPMS Facebook page and thank everyone for their suggestions that we will look into.

IPMS San Diego and Coronado Public Library Make 'n Take

As part of the US Navy Aviation Centennial celebration the San Diego chapter of IPMS and the Coronado Public Library teamed up for a Make 'n Take on July 23rd, 2011. The Library's curator, Candice Hooper supported the event with space, setup, shipping, supplies and a host of other items, including pizza for lunch! IPMSSD provided eight volunteers, and all of them were kept busy. Revell provided models and IPMS Junior Coordinator provided guidance. The models were Revell Snaptite 1:72 scale F-14 Tomcats, in keeping with the Centennial theme.

MnT Event

I would like to thank IPMS for the great contribution to Red River Scale Modeler’s first ever make & take event.  We must also thank the East Grand Forks Campbell library for taking an interest in our beloved hobby and asking us to host the event as part of “Professor Marvel’s - Marvel’s at the Library” summer activities program.  We had initially agreed on 32 attendants.  Upon registering kids, the event was bumped up to 40 attendants with a waiting list!  We had two rooms set up with models - one for 20 kids ages 6-8 (kindergarten to 2nd grade) and the other with 20 kids ages 9-11 (th
