General IPMS/USA News.
To all fellow modelers,
As the current COVID-19 pandemic continues (it hasn’t peaked yet), we request that you follow state & local requests to not meet in any groups and to self quarantine if possible. This means no monthly meetings or shows. With limited testing available and no vaccines, it’s not worth the risk. Between smart phones, email, Facebook, etc., you should be able to stay in contact with your fellow modelers.
Check with your contest chairmen or the event page on the IPMS/USA website before you get in your car!
Dust off your stash and build some models. As the country music artist Gary Allan sings, “Every storm runs out of rain”.
Stay healthy & safe. Happy modeling
Director of Local Chapters
While we discontinued the IPMS-sponsored Make and Take program last year, we recognize that some of our Chapters have elected to support MnT activity at the local level. On a trial basis (subject to cancellation) we will provide a $100 post-event grant to any chapter holding a MnT event to offset their costs. Director of Local Chapters Dave Lockhart will be creating an application form for this program. Photos and writeups of the event activity will need to be submitted along with the application to obtain the grant.
I’m pleased to tell you that the Executive Board has approved two initiatives aimed at active, retired and disabled service members. These are as follows:
ST. LOUIS -- The Gateway Chapter of the International Plastic Modelers' Society (IPMS) donated $500 to the 2019 United States Marine Corps Reserve (USMCR) Toys for Tots campaign in Metropolitan St. Louis. Club President Rick Keasey presented the donation to the USMCR last Tuesday, December 17.
